Personally I am always frustrated by 16 and 18 inch necklaces feeling like they are clawing at your neck so most of the Necklaces I make are 20 inch.

This Necklace was made using 30 mm Black Onyx Oval Beads, 10mm Sterling Pearls surrounded by small turquoise pieces approximately 8 mm by 5 mm in size. Finished with a Sterling Silver Hook and Eye Closure.
